What is a sworn (certified) translation in Spain
In Spain, a sworn translation ("traducción jurada") is the only type of translation accepted by public administrations, courts, universities and most private institutions when a document is drafted in a language other than Spanish. It must be signed and stamped by a sworn translator-interpreter appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEC), who certifies under their own professional responsibility that the translation is a true and complete rendering of the original document.
A translation made by a certified translator from another country (for example, a NAATI-certified translator in Australia or an ATA-certified translator in the United States) is generally not automatically valid in Spain. If you need to use a Chinese document before a Spanish authority, you will normally need a sworn translation made by a MAEC-appointed translator.
